Oct 23, 2021 - Junior Gaels D-League has been canceled due to  a  lack of access to school gyms for this age group . All registered participants will be refunded their registration fees. 

Overview

The Kingston Impact Basketball Club's Jr Gaels Development League is a continuation of the traditional House League originally developed by Barry O'Connor and the former Kingston Pacers Basketball Club.

Philosophy

FUN, Fun and more Fun. Make friends, learn basic movement, basketball specific skills and participate in fitness related activities. Develop a love of sport for life!!

The Impact Jr Gaels Development League promotes an active lifestyle by providing a positive experience in sport. To that end, we want all players to experience the fun of being a contributing member of a team while gaining confidence by learning new skills and applying them to various games situations.

  • We believe team tactics are not necessary but an age appropriate understanding of the game is.

Programs 

We are huge proponents of developmentally appropriate programs. This year we will offer the following. Please click on the program for more information.

Mini co-ed 5-7 2014-2016 An early introduction to basketball based focusing on physical movement and fun small sided games/activities. 
Novice Girls F 8-10 2011-2013 A follow up to the Mini program, it focuses on skill development for female athletes in a fun environment.
Bantam Girls F 11-13 2008-2010 Introduces female athletes to more advanced basketball skills and more competition.
Novice Boys M 8-9 2012-2013 A follow up to the Jr NBA program, this focuses on skill development in a fun environment.
Atom Boys M 10-11 2010-2011 Introduces male athletes to more advanced basketball skills and more competition.
Bantam Boys M 12-13 2008-2009 An extension to the Atom Boys, the Bantam Boys continues more advanced basketball skill development in an age appropriate manner.

Equipment

  • Players are to wear comfortable clothing, shorts,  socks and indoor running shoes.
  • A Jr Gaels reversible jersey is required to participate. These will be included in the registration fee and handed out during the 1st session.
  • NEW: Players are also now required to bring their own basketball to each session.  Basketballs are included in the player fee and will be distributed during the 1st session.

REGISTRATION

Registration for 2021 -2022  is now closed. 

We are hopeful that the start date will be Saturday October 23rd but it will depend on several factors related to COVID-19 in our community that includes but not limited to:

  1. Gym availability
  2. Provincial/Local health unit mandates
  3. OBA return to play guidelines
