JUEL

St. Lawrence Lightning

Welcome to the current home of the St. Lawrence Lightning!

In July 2023, the Kingston Impact and Brockville Blazers announced a partnership to deliver a high performance regional program for female athletes in our area to participate in the Junior Elite League of Ontario (JUEL).

After consultation with many stakeholders, we decided to call this new program the St. Lawrence Lightning.

Program Details

We will be offering 2 teams this year:

Age Team Born
U16 JUEL PREP 2009-2011
U19 JUEL 2006-2008

The teams will participate against 13 other regional teams from around Ontario and is considered the best league for non-prep school teams in the province.

This program is for high school age athletes who :

  1. Are highly competitive.
  2. Love to work hard.
  3. Want to play against elite competition every day in practice and then again during our games.
  4. Are willing to learn the meaning of "getting comfortable with being uncomfortable".
  5. Want to maximize their potential as a basketball player.

The commitment is heavier than normal OBA play. Players will be expected to practice 3 times a week starting after the girls' high school season is over until the league championship at the end of May. There will also be at least 10 weekends away requiring at 12+ hotel nights.

For details on the JUEL schedule please refer to their website.

As our region is considered almost a 3 hr drive from one side to the other, we will try to reduce the travel burden for players especially  for practice. Practice locations will be split between Brockville and Kingston depending on where the players on the final roster live. Details on how that will work will not be available until the final rosters are announced.

Expect the player fees to participate in this program to be between $1750 - $2000. This will be finalized by tryouts.

This fee will not include travel costs but will include:

  • 30+ games
  • Nearly 100 hrs of practice
  • A strength and conditioning program
  • Access to stats and game video
  • Clothing and apparel package
