The 2019 Mega tournament once again was a tremendous success.

28 teams from outside of the Kingston area joined our 5 host teams in 5 divisions to play 52 preliminary games and 9 medal round games.

At the Bantam Girls level, the Impact team coached by Alfie De Melo and Kelly Dixon went 5-0 over the course of the weekend to capture the gold medal.

The team showed solid defense and worked together offensively to beat each of their opponent's in round robin play convincingly. beating IEM Scarborough 44-20, Orangeville Hawks 45-22, York Avengers 36-26 and the Belleville Spirits 40-20.

They met the Orangeville Hawks once again in the championship game.  Orangeville was a well coached team with skilled players but they were not able to overcome the Impacts strong defense.  Kingston earned the gold medal in a 41-26 final.

Bantam Girls - Gold and Silver Medalists

At the  U19 Junior Girls level the Impact placed second.

After winning three preliminary games against the Belleville Spirits, Lindsay Wildcats, and IEM Newmarket, they faced Brantford, whom we had previously lost to.

The girls put together a great effort and were able to secure a 13 point win and advance to the gold medal game against the Nepean Blue Devils.

Unfortunately, due to the absence of some players and some injuries, the team was left with only six players for the majority of the game. It was a well fought game but unfortunately, Nepean came out on top.

At the Major Bantam Girls AA level, coach Brown's team led early, but couldn't hold off a late charge by Arnprior's Valley Pride losing 34-30 to earn the silver medal.

In the Major Midget girls division, the Impact played some of their more exciting basketball of the season with Cassie Dixon scoring at the buzzer to beat Ottawa Next level by 1 in a preliminary game.

After going undefeated in round robin, the Impact played Arnprior who they had beaten earlier by 3. Unfortunately this time, the Valley Pride were able to attack and rebounded hard to find holes in the Impact's defense and they ended up losing 37-28.

All in all a great weekend. Thanks to all teams for participating and to our great volunteer base who kept things running.

See you next year!
