Many of our boys and girls Impact competitive teams participated in the 25th Annual Chris Paulin Basketball tournament in Ottawa this past weekend with some very good results.

On the girls side, we had 2 teams win silver medals in their respective Major Bantam divisions.

In Division 1, Major Bantam Girls Finn finished first in their pool, beating the Sudbury Jam and Nepean Wildcats.  In the Sunday semi-final, they defeated the Ottawa Shooting Stars to advance to the final against their rival Brockville Blazers.

After a slow start, the girls battled back to take the lead with 4 minutes left in the game.  However, they were unable to hold off the Blazers who closed the game out from the free throw line in the last two minutes.  The Impact girls won the silver medal and would like to congratulate the Blazers on their well deserved gold medal.   The Blazers club played with a lot of class on Sunday in the final.   It was a great game.

At the Division 2 level,  Major Bantam Girls Brown competed in their first tournament of the year. The girls went 3-1 in round robin play with great team play and strong defensive skill which earned them a spot in the final.

In the final, the girls battle hard keeping the game within 2 but just couldn’t get that ball to drop in the end.  They are proud to be coming home sporting a silver medal and lots of smiles!

On the boy's side, our Major Bantam - Barling team won their pool by winning two close come from behind games including a thrilling overtime victory.  They showed some of their best team defence of the early season. This placed them in the semi finals where they hung on and hit some clutch free throws. The boys ran into a big and determined team from Nepean and managed to capture the silver medal!

At the U12 Major Atom Boys  level, team  Cross, earned bronze.

On Friday night, they lost to the Whitby Gladiators by 3 in OT but then won their next 2 pool games to finish 2nd in their pool.

In the Sunday semi final, they fought back from a 15 point  but ended up losing to Brockville by 2.

In the bronze medal game,  they beat the same Whitby Gladiators by 9.

Great team effort each and every game.
